CM inaugurates Rs 867cr developmental project

It will pass through certain stretches of Ahmedabad city and Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad district.According to state government estimates, the entire project will cost Rs 867 crore. AHMEDABAD: Chief Minister Vijay Rupani along with deputy CM Nitin Patel inaugurated a project for the development of Sarkhej-Gandhinagar-Chiloda Highway , at an elaborate ceremony organized at the campus of Sola Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad on Monday.Formerly known as the national highway (NH) 8C, the proposed road will be named as NH 147, and will spread across a stretch of 44km. Around 50% of the project fund will be provided by the Union government while the remaining will be on cost sharing basis by the Gujarat government, which will be adjusted annually from CRF annual accrual for the state.The proposed plan includes construction of Gujarat’s first elevated corridor of 4.18km stretch. That apart, it also proposes construction of seven new flyovers, 20 bus bays, two pedestrian underpasses, two railway overbridges and one vehicular underpass, among others.The construction of some seven new flyovers along the road, will take place at at Infocity Gh-0 circle and Sargasan Kh-0 Circle – in Gandhinagar and Uvarsad Junction, Vaishnodevi Junction, Pakwan Junction, Sanand Junction and Ujala Junction, in Ahmedabad. It will start at Sola Bhagwat Junction and Terminate at Zydus Hospital Junction and merge into the Thaltej Underpass located at SG Highway currently.The proposed plan includes six-laning of the entire stretch of road from Chiloda to Vaishnodevi which is currently a four-lane road, with a 7 metre wide service road on both sides.
