CM to inaugurate cable-stayed bridge in Surat

"Executive engineer of SMC’s bridge cell, Rajesh Pandya said, “The cable-stayed bridge is going to be the biggest attractions for the tourists and visitors in the diamond city. We are also planning to make selfie point on the embankment of Tapi river, from where the entire picture of the cable-stayed bridge could be captured." It was Modi who had laid the foundation stone of the cable-stayed bridge when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat.The construction of Rs 143 crore cable-stayed bridge was started in 2010 and it took eight years for completion. The delay was caused due to the collapse of the curved portion of the fly-over connecting cable-stayed bridge at Athwalines, which had killed 10 construction labourers on June 10, 2014.After the collapse of the fly-over bridge, the construction activity of the cable-stayed bridge was suspended and it began only by the mid-2016.Talking to TOI, chairman of Unique constructions, Paresh Patel said, "This is India’s second cable-stayed four lane bridge. The bridge has been decorated with architectural façade, 3D lighting etc.

SURAT : Gujarat’s first four-lane cable-stayed bridge will be thrown open for the people of the diamond city on Tuesday.Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani will be arriving in the diamond city on Tuesday morning and will head straight to the cable-stayed bridge for inauguration at 10.30 am and then he will attend the inauguration event at the Sanjeev Kumar auditorium before leaving for Gandhinagar at 12.30 pm.The bridge was ready in August, but the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) delayed the inauguration waiting for Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the inauguration of the bridge. We imported the stay cables from China and that they were tested in Chicago, USA.
