The throbbing gash under his left eye has made it impossible for Arth to forget the traumatic incident that occurred on Friday.His father Bhavesh Jhalawadia, a chartered accountant who specializes in GST tax, filed a complaint with Vastrapur police against five RJs, Aayush, Harsh, Dhrumil and Nishita for causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety (IPC section 337). He told police, “The RJs were flinging CDs wrapped in plastic fibre covers from the stage and one came flying and hit my son below the eye.”‘No first aid found’“My wife heard that promotional CDs were going to be hurled from the stage and she tried to block Arth’s face with her purse, but he pushed it away and got hurt by a flying CD. He screamed so badly that I thought my son had lost his eye.There was blood and his eye was swollen. We walked towards the stage assuming there would be medical aid available near it. The RJs knew that my child was hurt. One of them even put her hand on her face in shock. However, we could find no first aid and rushed Arth to a hospital in Vastrapur,” he said, adding, ““The doctor thankfully ruled out loss of eyesight. He said that there were three cuts around his eyes that may leave a scar.”No one bothered, fume JhalawadiasWhat angered the Jhalawadias were the lack of sensitivity shown by the RJs. “These are the people who highlight what’s wrong with society and berate us for not doing the right thing. But they did not show any consideration towards an injured child despite being in the know of the incident.”So, the couple decided to revisit the party plot again. “My son cried, fearing he would get hurt again but we convinced him to accompany us. I needed to collect evidence about what was happening. Sadly, the RJs had not stopped throwing the promotional CDs at the crowd.The only difference was that they had made announcement in three languages -- Gujarati, Hindi and English – asking parents to keep the children safe. I was surprised. Can the CDs not injure a youth or senior citizen?”Vastrapur Inspector M M Jadeja said, “We have registered a complaint under IPC section 337 and are investigating the case. We will call the RJs to the police station on Thursday.”When contacted, Red FM Station Head Priti Shah said, “We have heard of the complaint through news reports. We will issue a statement after the police contacts us.”Meanwhile, the Jhalawadiashave given up garba, at least this year. “My wife and I are garba enthusiasts but we have stopped participating in garba even in our society after this incident.”
