A note from the institute stated that at the end of placements, four students opted out of it — three decided to work on entrepreneurial ideas and one student decided to work with an early stage start-up through Entre-Fair.According to IIMA officials, Thewas the top recruiter with 20 offers and 110 students successfully made over 300 “dream applications” this year. In IIMA parlance, when a student gets placement of his or her choice — dream offer — it gives them flexibility and choice to build careers in sector of their choice. Among the global banks, HSBC made 9 offers while American Express and FinIQ were the top recruiters in the BFSI cohort having made 8 offers each.AB InBev, HUL and Saint Gobain recruited 7 students each and were the top recruiters in the Consumer Goods cohort while thewas the top recruiter in the General Management cohort with 10 offers. Amazon made maximum 14 offers in the Retail B2B space while Microsoft was the leading recruiter in the Consumer Tech cohort with 10 offers.Prof Amit Karna, Chairperson of the Placement Committee, said, “We are grateful to all the recruiters who visited the campus this year for their continued support to hire summer interns from our two-year post-graduate programme. Their confidence in our programme and our students’ ability to add value to their organisations is a source of strength to us. The summer internship forms an integral part of the academic requirement of our programme and our students keenly look forward to the internship projects to apply their learnings to real life situations at the end of their first year.”Kautuk Kushansh, Recruitment Secretary at IIMA, said, “The cluster-cohort system of conducting placements at IIM Ahmedabad is designed to ensure better fit between the students and firms so that they get to choose what sector they want to work in. In the pursuit to ensure that students get to work in the sectors of their choice, this year we increased the number of firms participating in the PE/VC (Private Equity/ Venture Capital) cohort to double digits in line with the increasing number of students with relevant backgrounds.”
