AHMEDABAD: A man flying from Oman to Ahmedabad, Koman Francis Moris, was held by immigration authorities for allegedly using a fake passport on Monday. Koman, who belongs to Mumbai, was handed over to Airport police station for further investigation.According to the FIR lodged by immigration authorities, as the photograph on the passport did not match the flier, security personnel detained him and informed their superiors.“During his interrogation, it emerged that he belongs to Mumbai and had gone to the UAE on a work visa in September 2015. He opened an oil company called Al Taboor Lubricants by borrowing $30 million. He said he had repaid $23 million but couldn’t pay the remainder as his customers defaulted on payments,” added a police official.Police officials said as a loan defaulter, UAE police issued a look-out notice for him. “According to the complaint lodged by immigration authorities, he then flew to Oman and with the help of three friends changed the name and photograph on his passport.“Koman used it to fly to India and was held at the airport. We registered a case of forgery against the accused and are probing the case,” said a senior officer of Airport police station.
