Justice Dave thoroughly praised Justice Shah and solicitor general Tushar Mehta for making Gujarat proud. During his address at the event, Acting Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court AS Dave shared several anecdotes from the bar and the bench leaving the audience in splits. On the issue of huge pendency of cases in courts, Justice Shah said lawyers have to leave their habit of seeking adjournments and should rather argue the cases on time for their faster disposal. After setting the 'opening punch' with perfection and since his earlier speakers had chosen Gujarati over English for their address, Justice Dave told the audience about an incident that happened with a Gujarati professor teaching in Jabalpur. Incidentally, the professor was asked to address the audience in an event.

Judges are known for their seriousness while hearing cases in court. It is an image that the judiciary has created over a long period of time. However, it was a different ambiance on Sunday when judges revealed their enviable humorous side during a programme organised by the Bar Council of Gujarat (BCG) to felicitate Justice MR Shah, who has been recently elevated to the Supreme Court, and senior advocate Tushar Mehta, who has been appointed as the solicitor general. During his address at the event, Acting Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court AS Dave shared several anecdotes from the bar and the bench leaving the audience in splits. While taking names of important personalities present at the event at the beginning of his address, Justice Dave jokingly said that he will have to take the name of Aniruddhasinh Jhala, or else he won't be given an entry in Bhavnagar. Notably, Jhala is a member of the bar council from Bhavnagar and was sitting on the front row of the auditorium. After setting the 'opening punch' with perfection and since his earlier speakers had chosen Gujarati over English for their address, Justice Dave told the audience about an incident that happened with a Gujarati professor teaching in Jabalpur. Incidentally, the professor was asked to address the audience in an event. He said he can give the lecture in Hindi or Gujarati. When the organisers asked why he was not using English, the professor had said: "The English language is like my wife. I know her, but do not have control over her". Justice Dave thoroughly praised Justice Shah and solicitor general Tushar Mehta for making Gujarat proud. He said in Delhi where lawyers are judged on the basis of the length of their car and not by their skills, it must have been very difficult for Mehta to make his mark. Justice Shah, who became emotional after his father was felicitated by chief minister Vijay Rupani during the event, clarified right at the beginning of his address that he is not MR Shah sahib or Justice MR Shah for them, he is just Mukeshbhai for all and he wants to remain that only. He said he is a proud Gujarati and will remain so, forever. Speaking on judgments that have greatly benefited the society, Justice Shah said people come to the court out of compulsion and not out of love, and whatever he had done in the court was to ensure that people maintain their faith on the judiciary. On the issue of huge pendency of cases in courts, Justice Shah said lawyers have to leave their habit of seeking adjournments and should rather argue the cases on time for their faster disposal. Indebted to CM, people of Gujarat: Justice Shah Justice Shah said he is indebted to chief minister Vijay Rupani, the representative of 6.5 crore Gujaratis, for remaining present at the felicitation event. Notably, Rupani during his address had said that the elevation of Justice Shah and the appointment of Mehta has come at a crucial time and is likely to strengthen the 'institution'. ORDER ORDER
