Ahead of the general elections 2019, the local body wants to make sure that they finish all minor works such as internal roads, street lights, and other works which fall under the government, civic body and housing society's work. "Some of the works such as internal society roads are being done using three different sources of funding, of which, 70% is through government grants while 20% is from the councillors' budget and 10% has been contributed by the society itself," said Amul Bhatt, standing committee chairman, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). "Before the code of conduct is implemented, we want to start those works. However, funds from the state have not been released so we will use our funds to finish all the works on priority basis," added Bhatt. It is to be noted that around 600-700 housing societies in the city are waiting for internal infrastructure that falls under this category.
