Swaminarayan Junagadh raped A 45-year-old married woman has accused a 50-year-old preacher of thetemple in Amreli of rape. She claimed she got acquainted with the swami on a social media site and he won her trust after promising to help sort out her personal problems. A complaint in this regard has been registered byC division police.The woman, a resident of Junagadh, stated in her complaint that she had been living separately from her husband for past five years. She said that he was in a live-in relationship with another woman. Around eight months ago, she came in contact with Swami Anandswarupdasji of Vadia Swaminarayan temple in Amreli on Facebook. She told him about her marital discord and he assured her that he would help sort out the issue. They began chatting on WhatsApp and on February 17 this year he sent a message saying he would come to meet her in Junagadh the next day.As per the complaint, he came in a car which was driven by another swami from Gondal. He allegedlyher at knifepoint in the moving car on Bilkha gate road in Junagadh. PSI Lakkad, investigating officer in the case, said police registered the complaint on Monday, adding that the accused are on the run.The woman has a 20-year-old married daughter and a 15-year-old son. Her husband has a factory of plastic products at Jetpur. She lives with her relatives in Junagadh, police said. According to temple sources, the accused was second in command at the temple and was a preacher there. They added that he has not come to the temple in past few days. Despite repeated attempts, temple authorities remained unavailable for comment.
