With the code of conduct implementation, one of the dream project of prime minister Narendra Modi 'Housing for All by 2022' in Ahmedabad has delayed further. Under the scheme, it was decided that more housing schemes will take shape under the local bodies to accommodate The standing committee had withheld work of approval 6658 housing unit in different schemes. Now, no action will be taken for the same. In the proposal, more than 6800 units are planned to construct under different categories at the cost of more than Rs 500 crore. The ruling party has more focused on the middle class. The proposal was put on hold because of the technical inspection. Amul Bhatt standing committee chairperson said that the proposal was put on hold to review the technical aspects. The project investment is more than Rs500 crore and hence the committee sought more time to review details of the work on last Thursday. The proposal included Lower Income Group Houses around 4600 units, Economically Weaker Section Houses more than 2200 were proposed to build in different pockets of the city. Tenders have been floated for the same and the civic body has received proposals also. In addition to this, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has also proposed renovation of housing colony of Sonariya in Bapunagar locality which has 760 housing units. The proposal was to renovate the same and also construct more 80 blocks in that premises. Now, the work will be approved only after declaration of the general election results in May 2019.
