Ahmedabad reports 331 waterborne cases in 2 weeks

In the first two weeks of the March 2019, the city has reported 331 cases. "Waterborne cases rise because of eating stale food and drinking contaminated water. Weekly health bulletin by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) reported the rise in the waterborne diseases within city limits. So far this month, 166 cases of gastroenteritis, 106 cases of typhoid, and 59 cases of jaundice have been reported in the first two weeks. Summer season is appraoching, and yet waterborne diseases are on the rise in the city.

Weekly health bulletin by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) reported the rise in the waterborne diseases within city limits. In the first two weeks of the March 2019, the city has reported 331 cases. Summer season is appraoching, and yet waterborne diseases are on the rise in the city. So far this month, 166 cases of gastroenteritis, 106 cases of typhoid, and 59 cases of jaundice have been reported in the first two weeks. "Waterborne cases rise because of eating stale food and drinking contaminated water. In summer, the cold drinks and consuming street food that are kept in the open are the main cause of these cases. We are advising people to avoid eating out and drinking anything that is not covered," said a senior health official of AMC. On the other hand, the vector-borne cases have decrease. The city has also witnessed 27 malaria cases and one case of falciparum has been reported. Not a single case of dengue has been reported during March 2019, so far. Swine flu cases have also seen a decrease. The health department has mentioned in its bulletin that since January 2019, about 1267 cases and 25 deaths have been reported within the jurisdiction of AMC.
