Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was in the city on Tuesday, and addressed thousands of party workers at a rally in Ghatlodia area. He said that if former prime minister Indira Gandhi had remained committed to eradicating poverty, the current government at the Centre wouldn't have had to work for this same task. He also accused the Congress party of giving fake slogans and making false promises to the people of India. Adityanath also slammed the Congress' NYAY scheme of a minimum income guarantee. Elaborating more on the achievements of the Modi government, he said that hooliganism, terrorism, internal insurgence, poverty, inflation and chaos have all come under control since 2014.
