Heatwave hits Gujarat, brace for hot polling day

The maximum temperature on Tuesday is expected to be around 42 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature could be around 24 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature recorded was 22.6 degree Celsius which was two degrees below the normal. The Met department predicts a rise in the maximum temperature by 2-3 degree Celsius. The highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded at Kandla airport which was 42.8 degree Celsius. Some places may even witness the mercury crossing 42-43 degree Celsius as maximum temperature.

Voters will feel the heat today as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heatwave conditions. Dust-laden winds are expected to blow in Gujarat and Rajasthan. The press bulletin of IMD says that the state is witnessing hot and dry winds and in the coming days, some pockets are going to witness an intense heat wave. Some places may even witness the mercury crossing 42-43 degree Celsius as maximum temperature. Some places especially in north Gujarat are to witness heat wave conditions for the next two-three days. The Met department predicts a rise in the maximum temperature by 2-3 degree Celsius. Adjoining state Rajasthan is expected to witness thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by strong winds in various places. With this effect, north Gujarat will witness dusty winds. According to Skymet weather, hot and dry weather has been prevailing over most parts of these states for quite some time. In the coming days, no relief is in sight for Rajasthan and Gujarat. At present, the state is receiving westerly to northwesterly winds. For Ahmedabad, the IMD has forecast clear skies with dry weather. The maximum temperature on Tuesday is expected to be around 42 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature could be around 24 degree Celsius. On Monday, the city recorded 41.6 degree Celsius which was a degree above normal. The minimum temperature recorded was 22.6 degree Celsius which was two degrees below the normal. Across the state, there was a rise in maximum and minimum temperatures. The highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded at Kandla airport which was 42.8 degree Celsius. The lowest minimum temperature was recorded at 21.1 degree Celsius at Mahuva.
