Bigamy allegation: IAS officer Gaurav Dahiya suspended

The Gujarat government suspended IAS officer Gaurav Dahiya on Thursday, almost a month after allegations of bigamy surfaced against him. The 2010 batch officer was transferred to the state's General Administration Department (Planning) after the charges against him became public. The state government, which had set up a five-member all-woman committee led by IAS officer Sunaina Tomar to probe the case, said in a statement that Dahiya would face disciplinary action. "Gaurav Dahiya has been suspended based on the findings of the probe committee's report," Chief Secretary JN Singh told the media. Later, the case was transferred to the Gandhinagar police, who summoned Dahiya but he skipped the summons.

Before that, he had been director of the National Health Mission. The state government, which had set up a five-member all-woman committee led by IAS officer Sunaina Tomar to probe the case, said in a statement that Dahiya would face disciplinary action. "Gaurav Dahiya has been suspended based on the findings of the probe committee's report," Chief Secretary JN Singh told the media. The panel had summoned both Dahiya and the woman who has levelled the charge. The complainant is based in Delhi. She had appraoched the women's cell of Delhi police accusing Dahiya of bigamy. Her complaint alleged that Dahiya forcibly married her and abused her after she gave birth to a girl. She said it was only after their marriage in 2018 that she came to know he had not divorced his wife. Later, the case was transferred to the Gandhinagar police, who summoned Dahiya but he skipped the summons. Dahiya has maintained she is blackmailing him and filed an application with the Gandhinagar police. The Gujarat State Commission For Women has taken suo motu cognisance of the case and asked the officer to appear before it. The commission is likely to summon the Delhi-based woman too.
