The recovery rate of COVID-19 in Ahmedabad has increased drastically to 140%, said ACS Rajiv Gupta.
Ahmedabad on Friday reported 25 of total 29 deaths in Gujarat, higher than Thursday`s 17. On one hand, the city has been in focus due to its high mortality, on the other Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) claims there has been 140% increase in its discharge rate in last 15 days.
ACS Rajiv Gupta said recovery rate of Covid-19 patients in city up from 15.85% to 38.1% in 15 days.
According to Dr Rajiv Kumar Gupta, additional chief secretary forests and environment, who is in charge of Ahmedabad, the recovery rate has increased by over 140 per cent against the recovery rate in the state that has increased by 92 per cent.
He said the recovery rate of Ahmedabad that was 15.85 per cent on May 5, was 38.1 per cent on May 21. Gujarat`s recovery rate was 22.11 per cent on May 5 and was 42.51 per cent on May 21. India`s recovery rate, according to him, was 28.62 per cent on May 5 and came to 41.06 per cent on May 21.
Gupta attributed the increased recovery rate to the multi-pronged strategy adopted. He said the number of surveillance teams have been increased from 318 to 616, and added that due to increased surveillance, the cases are detected early and hence the recovery rate has gone higher.
He said the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has requisitioned 42 private hospitals and ordered them to provide 50 per cent beds for the treatment of COVID-19 patients. A total of 1,500 beds have been provided for COVID-19 patients so far, he added.
