AHMEDABAD: In a meeting of the board of governors of Gujarat Technological University (GTU), it was decided that the varsity will offer part-time courses in skill development. In addition to part-time courses, the varsity officials are mulling over introducing three-year full-time courses for skill development in various sectors. However, only institutes that have approval from National Skill Development Corporation as well as AICTE are entitled to offer these courses. This will be akin to diploma courses, however, they will have relatively less focus on theoretical aspects and will instead emphasize industry-specific knowledge. The move came on the lines of government of India's 'Skill India Mission'.
