FLO launches legal and advocacy cell

Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad chapter of FICCI Ladies Organization (FLO) launched a legal and advocacy cell on Saturday. ""There are a host of personal as well as professional issues women tend to face. Bakeri has been associated with FLO for past five years and is also the director of two real estate firms in the city. FLO will also focus on several grassroots initiatives. The right advice on issues such as alimony, their personal rights, right to property, business and entrepreneurship, among others, will help them tackle issues through a proper channel," Patel added.As part of the advocacy cell, a helpline and online redressal system through email will be set up.

Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad chapter of FICCI Ladies Organization (FLO) launched a legal and advocacy cell on Saturday. The advocacy cell is a voluntary organization to guide women tackle a host of issues - be it personal or professional, and it will enable economic empowerment for women through a thorough knowledge of the legal processes and the law in India.Sharing more details about the initiative, Roopa Patel, outgoing chairman of FLO, said, "The idea is to provide a platform for women to receive legal guidance.""There are a host of personal as well as professional issues women tend to face. The right advice on issues such as alimony, their personal rights, right to property, business and entrepreneurship, among others, will help them tackle issues through a proper channel," Patel added.As part of the advocacy cell, a helpline and online redressal system through email will be set up. Currently, FLO has roped in around 11 lawyers and other legal experts to help provide guidance to women.Among key panel members of the cell are Mauna Bhatt, legal advisor to leading government and semi-government bodies, advocate Vaibhavi Nanavati, legal advisor to Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, GU and different companies, Dharmishta Raval, secretary, Indian Law Institute's Gujarat unit and high court lawyer Kalpana Brahmbhatt.Change of guardPavani Bakeri Agarwal took charge as the new chairperson of FICCI-FLO- Ahmedabad chapter. The outgoing chairperson, Roopa Patel, handed over charge on Saturday. Film director Subhash Ghai and senior SC lawyer - Hemantika Wahi were present at the ceremony. Bakeri has been associated with FLO for past five years and is also the director of two real estate firms in the city. FLO will also focus on several grassroots initiatives. TNN
