Religious leaders, MISA prisoners from Gujarat and leaders from the social sector in Rajkot were also invited for this public rally.

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said that he was in his hometown to win the hearts of his people. He filed a nomination for polls from Rajkot West seat on Monday at 12:39pm, the vijay muhurt (auspicious time to win) and also demonstrated his connect with city, which is also a political capital in Saurashtra. Rupani, before filing nominations, visited Aji dam site- a main source of water for Rajkot, moved through the city on a scooter, visited different religious places and addressed a public rally in the morning. He said that he had come to Rajkot to win the hearts of people of the city as their son. Thousands of BJP workers poured in at the public rally near Bahumali Bhavan of the city with lotus flowers, flags and a musical band. Here, Rupani said, "I am the son of this city and have been brought up here. Many of you have taught me lessons of life and I am thankful that many elderly people have guided me. Here, I have come to not to defeat someone in poll battle but to win the hearts of people of Rajkot." "Dushkal(draught) has become bhootkal (past) in Rajkot. Vikas has given water, electricity, roads and other facilities to people of Gujarat. Vikas has ensured safety, peace and prosperity in Gujarat and Congress is making fun of Vikas. This Vikas should not stop here but should continue and with the cooperation of the Narendra Modi led government," Rupani added. The rally was attended by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and he also remained present when Rupani filed his nomination. In his address, Jaitley said, "It is Gujarat's good fortune that the son of the state is the PM of the country while the son of this city is the CM of Gujarat. I have been observing the working style of Rupani ever since he was the Rajya Sabha member from Gujarat and then we worked in the state organisation for the BJP. He has showed his potential and great understanding wherever and whenever he worked." Rupani also welcomed several Congress workers from Rajkot in BJP on this occasion. Religious leaders, MISA prisoners from Gujarat and leaders from the social sector in Rajkot were also invited for this public rally. On the other side, Rupani's rival and Congress candidate from Rajkot West, Indranil Rajguru also filed his nomination. Rajguru showed personal assets of Rs 141 crore belonging to him and his family. After filing his nomination, Rajguru said, "Rupani says I have money and he has the support of people. But I would say that I have money, people's support and humanity. I am confident that I will win against his false agenda. He is involved in many corruption cases and have supported hooligans in the city. People of Rajkot know it well and do not want such people to rule over them. I will defeat the CM and that is my resolution." INDIA'S MOST ELDERLY VOTER BLESSED RUPANI
