Cold wave revives in Rajasthan, fog affects rail, air services

Many places in the state also witnessed fog which affected road, rail and air traffic. JAIPUR: Following drizzles in some parts of the state, the cold wave conditions revived on Saturday. Fog and mist in the morning also affected air, road and rail traffic. A few diversions and delays of flights were witnessed at the Jaipur airport. Likewise, the traffic on the highways connecting Jaipur to Agra via Bharatpur and Jaipur to Delhi via Behror was chaotic due to poor visibility during early morning hours.

JAIPUR: Following drizzles in some parts of the state, the cold wave conditions revived on Saturday. Many places in the state also witnessed fog which affected road, rail and air traffic. Bikaner remained coldest in the state where a minimum temperature of 5 degrees Celsius was recorded, the Met reports said on Saturday.Attributing the climatic change to the active northerly winds, the Jaipur Met office said that the temperatures will further drop in the state and dense fog is expected at many places in the western and northern parts of the state in the next 24 hours.Jaipurities woke up to a chilly morning as a minimum temperature of 7.8 degrees Celsius was witnessed in the city. Fog and mist in the morning also affected air, road and rail traffic. A few diversions and delays of flights were witnessed at the Jaipur airport. Likewise, the traffic on the highways connecting Jaipur to Agra via Bharatpur and Jaipur to Delhi via Behror was chaotic due to poor visibility during early morning hours. At least half-a-dozen trains during morning hours arrived late at the Jaipur railway station.Bikaner was followed by Churu where a minimum temperature of 5.5 degrees, Sriganganagar 5.8, Ajmer 6.5, Jaisalmer 7, Jodhpur 8, Barmer 8.2 and a minimum temperature of 8.4 degrees Celsius each was recorded in Kota and Udaipur, respectively.Jaipur Met office further said that shivering cold conditions will further aggravate in the state in the next 48 hours. Some places in the western and northern parts will also witnessed foggy conditions especially during morning and late evening hours.On the chilly conditions Jaipur met office said that winters are going to stay in the state for almost one more fortnight. “By mid-February, the temperatures will start rising,” said an officer.
