PCS 2015 answer copies to be re-evaluated

The report thus prepared would be presented before court, said CBI sources.CBI is probing 584 results declared during the five-year period from 2012 to 2017 over allegations of gross anomalies in recruitment. A team of the investigating agency is temporarily camping at Govindpur locality for the probe. CBI has taken possession of the original answer sheets of the exams from UPPSC. The mains copies of 20 toppers and that of scores of suspects would be evaluated by the experts appointed by the agency. "After taking possession of the copies, discussions are being held on mode of evaluation and the panel of experts. Copies of 20 toppers and scores of suspects will be re-checked," said a CBI official preferring anonymity.Secretary, UPPSC, Jagdish told TOI, "CBI had demanded original answer copies of PCS-2015 which are being provided to them in batches. We had kept photocopies of answer scripts with us before handling over to them for the probe." He said, "They (CBI officers) are free to adopt any modus operandi of investigation. We are cooperating with them by providing them the records they are seeking."The CBI officers claimed that gross irregularities had surfaced in the moderation policy adopted in PCS-2015, PCS-2014 and PCS-2013.In the case of PCS-2015, it was detected that UPPSC had not set any criteria for moderation policy."Analysis of copies of several successful and unsuccessful candidates revealed that numbers were awarded arbitrarily to favour some aspirants. So the decision of re-evalution was taken to ensure that we have something to back our claim in court," said an officer preferring anonymity.At least 579 of the total 1,578 candidates were declared successful by UPPSC in PCS-2015, the results of which was declared on March 1, 2016. The interviews of aspirants were conducted from December 22, 2015 to February 24, 2016 by the commission.Presently, selected candidates are employed as deputy collectors, deputy superintendents of police, assistant regional transport officers, assistant commissioners (Commercial Tax), district dommandant Homeguards, district horticulture officer in various parts of the state.Earlier, UPPSC had called 25 top ranking candidates for questioning. TOI had published the questionnaire of CBI. They were quizzed on bank accounts, contacts, political and social connections among others.
