Former MP gets extortion call, asked to pay Rs 10 lakh

"During the first phone call, the caller asked me about my ATM card number and the account number. The caller also threatened Singh of dire consequences if failed to do so.The third call, made from the same number, was made at around 12pm and the miscreants threatened the ex-MP to not to intimate the police else they would kill him. "He also said that a police team has been assigned to probe the case and arrest the miscreants at the earliest.In a letter submitted to Kotwali police, Singh wrote that he had received three calls from the an unidentified mobile number wherein the caller asked him to pay Rs 10 lakh or face dire consequences. When I told him/her that I would be visiting the local branch of a nationalised bank where I have my account and he/she could meet me there, the caller disconnected the call," the ex-MP told police.Police said that the second call was made around 11:45am from the same number and this time the caller asked Singh to arrange for Rs 10 lakh.
