Pilgrims hail wifi service at Kumbh Mela ground

For spreading awareness around 10,000 posters have been placed around the vast Kumbh mela area.“Kumbh Mela is one of the largest religious gathering of the world. In this situation the wifi provided by RailTel and two other companies is helping pilgrims to stay connected to the internet,” said Sucharita Pradhan, senior manager RailTel.Puneet Chawla, CMD, RailTel said: ‘The Wi-Fi has received a tremendous response from devotees as more than 7 lakh people have availed this service till date.” With footfall reaching to crores, the devotees find it difficult to connect through cellular networks. Allahabad: In a first, the Kumbh Mela administration has started wifi services in and around the Mela premises.The facility is being provided by RailTel, the public sector undertaking which has roped in the support from two private players.Named as RailWire, this wifi service, available at various sectors of Kumbh mela, is free for initial one hour after which the user needs to buy a recharge coupon of just Rs 10 which is valid for using the WiFi for the entire day.More than 1,100 outdoor access points have been installed with supplementary indoor routers at various eating joints and restaurants to increase utilisation.
