HC tells SIT to produce woman ‘detained’ in Deoria shelter home

Hence, she cannot be detained indefinitely during the investigation of case and, therefore, should be set free by the authorities concerned.
Having heard claims of the petitioner, a division bench comprising Chief Justice Govind Mathur and Justice Saurabh Shyam Shamshery directed the SIT officers to produce the detained woman before it on February 27, the next date of hearing.
Allahabad: Acting on a petition filed by a man claiming that her wife is illegally lodged in Deoria shelter home, the Allahabad high court has directed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to produce the alleged detenu before the court on February 27.
SIT is investigating allegations that a sex racket was being operated from the said home.The court passed this order while hearing a habeas corpus petition filed by the man from Mumbai, claiming to be the woman’s husband, demanding that she may be set free from detention of authorities.In his petition, the petitioner took the plea that one of the women, who was allegedly victim of sexual harassment at Deoria shelter home, is his wife and is also a major.
