ALLAHABAD: Apart from deputing "volunteers" at all Primary Health Centers (PHCs) of district to check whether health staff is turning up on time or not, the district health authorities have directed to put the details of doctors including their names, mobile numbers along with photographs on hospital display boards for the convenience of patients.The exercise of displaying names, mobile number and photographs of doctors has already started at all primary community health centres and district hospitals of the district.Kaurihar community health centre has taken lead to display the details of all doctors posted there on the hospital display board followed by TB Sapru government hospital.Chief Medical Officer, Allahabad, Dr Alok Verma told TOI " The details of doctors including their names ( with post) , mobile number and photographs would be displayed on hospital display boards for the convenience of patients arriving primary community health centres and government hospitals from far flung areas to get them examined and treated by doctors.He further added " Kaurihar CHC and TB SapruBeli hospital have put the details of doctors on their respective hospital display boards and remaining PHCs/CHCs and government hospitals would complete exercise within next 24 hours.He, however, said that displaying the name of doctor, his/her mobile number along with photograph has been made mandatory.The Allahabad district has four government hospitals, 60 PHCs and 20 CHCs. CMO , meanwhile, claimed the details of medical and para medical staff of all primary and community health centres have also been put on walls including doctors, para medical staff names along with their mobile numbers for patients coming from far flung villages to get them treated at the medical units.As patients are usually seen wondering from one department to another to search for doctors, the hospital display board would assist them in contacting the concerned doctors easily.The process of displaying details of doctors on hospital display board has been taken on war footing level as doctors have been asked to provide their photographs and mobile numbers at all PHC/CHC and government hospitals.However, doctors posted at both government hospitals and PHC/CHCs have expressed their concern over the move of displaying mobiles and photographs on hospital display board asserting that this would surely disturb their personal life." We have been carrying out our regular duties at hospital sincerely and as to why such step is being taken to create nuisance for doctors " said a senior doctor preferring anonymity. He further added " When doctors are busy in examining patients at their OPDs, the continuous ringing of mobile could hamper the working as we could not be able to switch it off" he added.
