Aurangabad: Citizens and civic activists will organise a three-hour ‘garbage walk’ to protest against the poor handling of waste from Paithan Gate to the civic headquarters at 9am on Tuesday.The walk will mark two months of the waste crisis in the city.According to a statement circulated on social media announcing the walk, the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) inefficient handling of the situation has led to great inconvenience to citizens.The statement says that the civic body has had enough time to get its act together on waste management, but as there is little progress despite government and legal intervention. “Citizens must take to the streets to demand their right to live in a clean and hygienic environment.”The organisers have appealed to people to join the protest walk rising above caste, religion and political differences for the greater good.Social organisations are also scheduled to participate in the walk. Some of these outfits have suggested measures and offered support to the AMC authorities in helping it manage the solid waste generated in the city.
