Salarjung Estate: Key suspect held for selling properties illegally

Aurangabad: The Economic Offences Wing of the city police, probing the illegal sale of Salarjung Estate-owned properties, has finally nabbed one of the key accused.According to police, Sattar Naseeb Khan, has played a key role in the sale of these properties owned by the Estate. The process to nab the identified suspects and identify the remaining suspects is under way,” he said.PSI Subhash Khandagle informed that the properties owned by Nawab Salarjung-III Mir Yusuf Ali Khan are spread across the country. “So far eight of the 36 accused have been identified and three of them including an architect have been arrested. Over a period of time, about 122 of them died. He was arrested on Tuesday.The EOW authorities informed that Khan forged the documents and used the same for selling the Estate-owned properties by either giving a General Power of Attorney or through registration at registrar of properties.Inspector Shrikant Navle said the in all there are 36 accused, who together worked for usurping the prime properties owned by the estate.

The process to nab the identified suspects and identify the remaining suspects is under way,” he said.PSI Subhash Khandagle informed that the properties owned by Nawab Salarjung-III Mir Yusuf Ali Khan are spread across the country. These properties were distributed amongst those serving with the Nawab through the two decisions of Hyderabad High Court in its rulings dated November 27, 1958 and December 2, 1958.As per the decree, 125 people were made responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the properties. Over a period of time, about 122 of them died. Currently the remaining three and the successors of those who died taking care of these properties.Sources said that most of these people, who are part of the Estate, were unaware that their prime properties in Aurangabad were changing hands on the basis of forged documents, records and GPAs.The discreet probe by the EOW has found that the suspects together not only forged the documents and claimed of holding legal rights to the properties across the state of Maharashtra, but also obtained PAN card and opened bank accounts with three banks including a multi-national, a public sector bank and a cooperative bank, all of them in the name of the Estate by using forged documents.
