Aurangabad: The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) sleuths on Monday arrested a statistics assistant for accepting Rs 3,000 as bribe from a doctor on the premises of civil hospital at Chikalthana.The suspect has been identified as 52-year-old Santosh Jeurkar, a resident of Swatantrya Sainik Colony in Nageshwarwadi. However, instead of paying the money, Mandhane lodged a complaint with the ACB office,” she added.The ACB officials, after verifying the facts stated, laid a trap at the civil hospital and nabbed the suspect soon after he accepted the powdered currency notes. The renewal was due and Mandhane had submitted a complete renewal proposal. A case has been registered in the MIDC Cidco police station against Jeurkar. The application came to Jeurkar, who called Mandhane around 10 days ago and asked to come to his office with Rs 300 towards renewal charges and Rs 5,000 as bribe,” she said.“After negotiating the bribe amount was brought down to Rs 3,000.

According to Varsharani Patil, deputy superintendent of police (ACB), the complainant — Madanlal Chunnilal Mandhane — approached them with a plaint against Jeurkar.“Mandhane’s wife runs a hospital in Paithan and as per Bombay Nursing Act renewal of the registration is mandatory after every three years. The renewal was due and Mandhane had submitted a complete renewal proposal. The application came to Jeurkar, who called Mandhane around 10 days ago and asked to come to his office with Rs 300 towards renewal charges and Rs 5,000 as bribe,” she said.“After negotiating the bribe amount was brought down to Rs 3,000.
