AURANGABAD: The Aurangabad city police have launched a probe into the death of a 30-year-old man, who reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a high-tension electricity tower situated in the limits of Begumpura police station.The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Bankar, a resident of Hariom Nagar. His body was found hanging several feet high on the tower situated at Bashir Nagar on Jatwada Road.This is for the first time in the city that someone has committed suicide by hanging himself from a high tension electricity tower.Soon after learning about the incident, the area police rushed to the spot, only to find that the man has been hanging several feet above the ground, following which they roped in the fire brigade authorities.It was after struggling for almost an hour that the fire brigade personnel managed to bring down the body, following which it was moved to Government Medical College and Hospital, where an autopsy was performed before handing it over the to the family.Begumpura police inspector Rajshri Adhe said that the preliminary probe has found that the man was a liqour addict and unemployed.She said, "It is surprising that the man climbed to a height using a rope, before committing suicide.
