Sealed clinics in Cantt reopened a day later

The Board should take applications from all hospitals and issue registrations to them so that they can function, he said. Explaining their opposition, CBA vice president and elected member Prashant Targe said the hospitals should be given more time to complete legalities.

AURANGABAD: A squad of the Cantonment Board, Aurangabad (CBA), which sealed two health facilities on Monday under the Bombay Nursing Home Registration Act 1949 and Cantonments Act 2006, was not allowed to further continue its drive after resistance from elected members of the Board. Meanwhile, the two health facilities were reopened on Tuesday.Incidentally, the Cantonment area of the city has twelve hospitals. In an RTI reply of September 9, 2017 the Cantonment General Hospital run by the CBA stated that the resident medical officer (RMO) does not have the list of new registration or renovation of hospitals in the Cantonment area. The RTI query revealed that the Cantonment General Hospital does not have any details on hospitals or clinics running in the jurisdiction of Cantonment.This revelation led the Marathwada Vikas Kranti Dal under Shekhar Jagtap to hold several agitations to demand action against hospitals running in the Cantonment without registration. The notice informed these hospitals that they are functioning in violation of the Bombay Nursing Home Registration Act 1949 and Sections 244 and 277 of Cantonments Act, 2006, and would face punishment.On Monday, a squad comprising CBA office superintendent Vaishali Kenekar, RMO Geeta Malu and sanitation inspector Santosh Bansile and his staff sealed Doshi Clinic run by Priti Doshi and Hayat Clinic run by Syed Mohtesim Ahmed.However, the squad could not continue the sealing drive after some of the elected members of the Board stopped them. Explaining their opposition, CBA vice president and elected member Prashant Targe said the hospitals should be given more time to complete legalities. The Board should take applications from all hospitals and issue registrations to them so that they can function, he said.
