Aurangabad: Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) has undertaken a student satisfaction survey as part of its upcoming evaluation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).Senior Bamu faculty Walmik Sarwade on Monday said the survey is expected to get over by the end of November. It will be then validated with the help of student satisfaction survey. Moreover, as part of the student satisfaction survey, every institution facing NAAC scrutiny is mandated to share the contact details and other data of students with the NAAC.Notably, around 70 % of the total gradation assessment will be carried out by NAAC only on the basis of data, data verification and most importantly student satisfaction survey.Student activist Tukaram Saraf said that Bamu should take awareness measures to spread a word about student satisfaction survey among target groups.“Even if the survey has been started majority of students are unaware about it. The feedback from students have weightage in ranking to be awarded by NAAC,” Sarwade said.As per the reform, institutions of higher learning are expected to prepare the Self Study Report (SSR) first and upload it online for response and feedback from students. However, many students pleaded ignorance about any such exercise being carried on.“Last year, the NAAC had introduced a major reform in its evaluation process by incorporating response or feedback from the students about the information submitted by respective institution of higher learning. To fulfill the purpose of the exercise concerned, Bamu should take proactive measures for spreading awareness,” he said.BAMU registrar Sadhna Pande could not be reached for her comments.Sarwade, meanwhile, said that NAAC visit was expected during second half of December. An autonomous body established by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India to assess and accredit institutions of higher education in the country in 1994, the NAAC — having its headquarter at Bengaluru — carries out periodic assessment and accreditation of institutions of higher education or units thereof, or specific academic programmes or projects. It has announced the revised evaluation process in the form of flow-chart on its official website that need to be followed by fresh applicant colleges.
