Cops in a tizzy as burglars target homes of SRP men

Aurangabad: Unidentified burglars broke into four houses, all belonging to jawans serving with the State Reserve Police Force’s (SRPF) Indian Reserve Battalion, in Sudhakar Nagar area of the city in the wee hours of Monday.After the incident came to light, locals alleged that the police patrolling register has not been signed for the past six months. It was also alleged that as the area houses several policemen, it was taken for granted by the police that the households cannot be targeted.Satara police station’s senior inspector Premsagar Chandramore said Sudhakarnagar is a police colony where policemen and their kin along with other tenants live. “The unidentified suspects targeted the houses belonging to Mohan Kurkure, Sahebrao Kale, Anil Yeshi, while a futile attempt was made to burgle the house of constable Atmaram Ghuge,” he said.A woman from a neighbouring house saw the suspects targeting Ghuge’s house and raised an alarm, following which the burglars escaped from the scene.“All these houses were locked after the occupants had left for their native places to celebrate Diwali.
