The city of Aurangabad has been celebrating its rich heritage through the Aura Aurangabad’s cultural concert. Being rich in heritage, the city’s on-going event saw its 8 th concert recently. Several classical dancers from across the country have performed for the series for the eight edition, Atanu Das performed Bharatanayam and Laxminarayan Jena impressed the audience with his Kathak recital.The first recital comprised of Ranjani Mala –a Keertanam composed by Thanjavur Shankara Aiyar which was beautifully performed Bharatanatyam dance by Atanu Das. Performed in Raga Mallika and Adi talam, this was followed by Shankara Sree. His performance described the Chitrasabha, lord Shankara, the God of mountain is dancing with the holy ashes and third eye on the fore head.The second performance of the day was by Laxminarayan Jena whose Kathak performance enthralled everyone. His performance commenced with Anand Tandav, a Shiva stuti which was a selection from purans and tukdas. This was followed by Radha Bhava Madhava, a bhav batana ang of Kathak. His recital ended with Taal-Mala, a dance that incorporated the various jaathis in teen taal while executing Tode, Tukde, Parans etc.
