Aurangabad: Two children sustained injuries on Monday afternoon after they fell from a moving school bus at Nagar Naka area of the city.The children were being ferried back to Waluj from Aurangabad after being administered measles and rubella (MR) vaccination. One of the students with injuries on his head and leg has been admitted at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), while the other child was discharged after administering first-aid.The duo study in Class 2 of Shri Shivaji Madhyamik Vidyalaya in Waluj and were brought to Shivaji High School in Khokadpura for the vaccine under the ongoing nationwide campaign of the central government.Sub-inspector GS Surwase of Cantonment police station said, “At 3.15pm, some students got engaged in a scuffle pushing open the rear window of the bus. These two boys fell from the bus and sustained injuries as informed by the teachers accompanying the children.”The resident medical officer at GMCH said, “Seven-year-old Tejas Gondge has been admitted and is being treated for injuries on his head and leg. The other student was not severely injured and was discharged after first-aid.”The bus in which the children were travelling belonged to Shantabai Prathmik Madhyamik Vidyalaya, which is also situated in Waluj’s Ranjangaon.“The school bus of Shri Shivaji Madhyamik Vidyalaya was under repair and the school authorities requested to use our bus and we obliged. But our driver was not available. So, they decided to engage their driver and use our bus to ferry the children to and from Aurangabad,” Sandip Kajale of Shantabai Prathmik Madhyamik Vidyalaya said adding that during Monday’s incident, the bus was not carrying any students from their school.Anil Gherule of Shri Shivaji High School said the driver was not at fault and the children pushed the rear glass of the bus. “There were 70 children and 5 teachers in the bus. The student injured has undergone sonography and CT Scan and his condition is stable,” he said.
