Aurangabad: Leaving the authorities red-faced, unidentified suspects stole gold ornaments weighing around 300 grams from a high-profile marriage that was held at Jabinda Lawns on December 3.As per the complaint lodged with the Satara area police station, the preliminary value of the stolen ornaments has been pegged at several lakhs, while the police said that the total jewellery lost in the incident could be more than what has been registered.The marriage was attended by several government officials including those from the police department, apart from people’s representatives from various political parties. The alleged theft in such a gathering has left the police red-faced.Satara area police station’s senior inspector Premsagar Chandramore told TOI, “The incident took place at the marriage venue in Jabinda Lawns between 3pm and 3.30pm on December 3, when some unidentified suspects laid their hands on the bag containing the gold ornaments.”Police said that the marriage ceremony of the daughter of a renowned city builder was being held and a series of functions had been organized for two consecutive days, which saw a large number of people attending the events.The incident took place when the gold ornaments of the bride were being removed and the ones brought by the bridegroom were being put on the bride.The bride’s mother, being busy with the ceremony, put all the gold ornaments in her purse.
