AMC lodges police plaint against water pipe damage

“Taking illegal connection could not be the motive for the damage as the pipeline is in the middle of the road. Some residents said the pipe may have been damaged to create tension between groups. If there is a CCTV at a property near the spot, its footage will be analysed to identify the suspects.”The residents of the area said that stealing water could be the motive but after the damage, no one was spotted filling water from there. Aurangabad: The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has lodged a police complaint against unidentified suspects for causing damage to the water pipeline, resulting into loss of several lakh litres of the precious commodity in the Begumpura area.Police on Tuesday said an investigation was under way to find out the motive of the crime and to identify the suspects who damaged the pipeline.Water works deputy engineer Illyasuddin Khwaja has stated in his complaint to the Begumpura police station that between 11pm and 11.30pm on March 24, unknown people broke the valve of the 350mm pipeline near the Krishna temple.The official and the lineman inquired from locals but could not get any information on how the damage happened, the complaint reads.The Begumpura police have registered a case against unknown people under section 3 of the Maharashtra Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 1995, and IPC section 427 on Monday.Begumpura inspector Rajshri Adhe said that no progress has been made so far on the identification of the suspects who caused the damage to the pipeline.
