500 take part in Run for Democracy

Aurangabad: Over 500 citizens participated in a special mini-marathon called ‘Run for democracy’ organised by the district administration, in association with the social group Black Buds, on Sunday.The run was organised on three different routes. “Exercising the voting right is considered as a service to the nation. Therefore, every young voter should come forward and cast their vote,” said Chaudhari.Earlier, Chaudhari administered a pledge for exercising the voting right to all participants. Speaking on the occasion, district collector Uday Chaudhari said that every citizen should exercise his voting right during the upcoming general election in order to strengthen the democracy.“A strong and healthy democracy provides the desired impetus for national development. Therefore, every citizen must vote without fail during the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections,” said Chaudhari.The district collector also emphasised on active turnout of young voters on the day of polling.

The mini-marathon covered different areas such as Little Flower School, University Gate, Goga-baba Hill and Aurangabad caves before culminating at Dr B R Ambedkar College, where participants were awarded certificates.Around 18.75 lakh voters from Aurangabad constituency, which comprises Aurangabad (east), Aurangabad (west) , Aurangabad (central), Kannad, Gangapur and Vaijapur assembly constituencies, will go to cast their votes on April 23.
