Man, 3 relatives booked for dowry

Aurangabad: A man , along with his three relatives, has been booked for demanding Rs 5 lakh from his wife's parents as dowry and also threatening her with dire consequences if she failed to meet the demand.When the woman (23), (23), a resident of Deogiri Colony in Mukunwadi area, failed to meet their demands, the four suspects allegedly beat her up and drove her out of home, Mukundwadi police said.In her complaint with police, the woman has alleged that her husband and in-laws, including two women, treated her well for about a month after her marriage in June 2014.According to police, the suspects subsequently started telling her to get Rs 5 lakh from her parents. They also threatened to kill her if she failed to bring the cash and finally drove her out of home saying that she should not come back empty handed.On Wednesday evening, the woman approached the police who registered a case against the suspects under various sections of the IPC, including 498A (subjecting her to cruelty), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (common intention) as well as under sections 3 and 4 of the dowry prohibition act.
