Despite promises, BAMU continues to operate 2 websites

If the head cannot pull down a single website running in the name of the university, what miracle can we expect from him. BAMU has been already facing flak for being the only state university to have two websites.Student activist Tukaram Saraf said that Bamu would face consequences in the near future for not pulling down one of the two websites. The statement had come close on the heels of V-C expressing a similar resolve while addressing the media a few weeks back. ""A single official website is considered beneficial for avoiding any confusion. While BAMU is up for NAAC scrutiny shortly, international private rankings continue to evaluate universities through websites knowingly or unknowingly," he said.In a statement released on August 14, Bamu vice-chancellor B A Chopade said that the university would have only one website.

Aurangabad: Even after repeated commitments that a consolidated single website will be used for overall operations, Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) has failed to take corrective measures as two university websites still exists online.The official information of Bamu can be found both on bamu.ac.in and bamua.digitaluniversity.ac, exposing the alleged shoddy functioning of the administration.While the former website has undergone a certain overhaul, the second one continues to have same interface. BAMU has been already facing flak for being the only state university to have two websites.Student activist Tukaram Saraf said that Bamu would face consequences in the near future for not pulling down one of the two websites."Online presence has significance in assessment and ranking of every university. While BAMU is up for NAAC scrutiny shortly, international private rankings continue to evaluate universities through websites knowingly or unknowingly," he said.In a statement released on August 14, Bamu vice-chancellor B A Chopade said that the university would have only one website. The statement had come close on the heels of V-C expressing a similar resolve while addressing the media a few weeks back. It should be noted that Chopade had chaired a meeting of IT officials in June and ordered that all online operations of Bamu must be made through a single website.A senior faculty member said, "The existence of multiple websites implies that the V-C has no control over the administration. If the head cannot pull down a single website running in the name of the university, what miracle can we expect from him.""A single official website is considered beneficial for avoiding any confusion. There are scores of students from Aurangabad, Jalna, Beed and Osmanabad districts along with those from other state access Bamu's website for information related to admissions, examinations and results," the faculty member added.Chopade could not be reached for his comments but senior Bamu officials on Sunday said one of the two websites would be out of action soon.
