Bareilly: A day after the police seized large quantities of country-made pistols after busting an illegal firearms factory under Nakhasa police station, the cops claimed to have arrested the gang’s suspected mastermind on Sunday.Six accused have been arrested so far. The suspected mastermind had managed to escape on Saturday.Superintendent of police of Sambhal district, Yamuna Prasad, said, “Our team seized 24 locally manufactured live cartridges, 24 country-made pistols (CMPs) and 26 semi-finished weapons and equipment used in making weapons from an abandoned factory inside a forest area under Nakhasa police station. They were involved in supplying illegal weapons between Rs 5,000 and 15,000, as per the making of the firearms such as pistols, single barrel guns and rifles.”Incidentally, another illegal firearms factory was busted in an area under Rajpura police station. On Saturday, after raiding the factory premises, the police arrested four persons from both the places. They were identified as Mohammad Shauqin, Shane Alam, Dharmveer Singh and Vijay Singh. However, Mohammad Tahir, one of the accused, managed to flee.“Three teams were formed for the manhunt to nab the accused as well as the gang’s mastermind. Today, acting on a tip-off, we managed to arrest Dilshad, who is supposed to be the mastermind. He had Rs 20,000 bounty on his head and was booked under Arms Act and Gangster Act. Besides, we also nabbed the other accused Tahir. And two more CMPs are recovered from their possession,” the SP added.
