The third National Nutrition Month will be celebrated in a digital format rather than the traditional way due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Alok Yadav, district information officer (DIO), Shahajahanpur stated ‘’the third national month will be celebrated digitally. The campaign is the mission of convergence of many departments to eliminate malnutrition. The main objective is to reduce the rate of stunting among children’’
As per the directions by government efforts will be made towards improving the immunity of the malnourished families via ‘Nutri gardens’. Officials have been directed to plant saplings of nutritious plant such as ginger, turmeric, drumstick etc. the goal is develop nutri-gardens in every district.
Land of government office campus, government schools, Anganwadi centres and Gram Panchayat premises would be utilized to build these gardens.
Alok Yadav further added that ‘’state government has also issued guidelines to provide a cow each to parents of under privileged children. The family will be given INR 30 per day for the maintenance of these bovines’’.
At least 15 departments related to nutrition such as agriculture, child development, youth and sports, Ayush housing and urban planning, skill development, information, manpower, social welfare, tribal welfare and minority welfare will jointly participate in the nutrition month to ensure its success.
