Four days to go for crushing season, Pilibhit sugar mills owe Rs. 136cr as cane dues

The LH sugar mill in Philibhit was the only mill to clear the dues to the tune of Rs. 734.34cr on October 15.

 Three of the four sugar mills in Philibhit owe farmers Rs. 136.19cr as cane dues from previous year’s even as current years crushing season is to begin here from November 1.

Slamming the BJP government for failing farmer, national convener of the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee VM Singh stated ‘’CM Yogi Adiyanath should be ashamed of his failure to comply with the Allahabad High Court’s orders to the state government ensure payment to the farmers within 14 days from the date of sugarcane procurement’’.

The LH sugar mill in Philibhit was the only mill to clear the dues to the tune of Rs. 734.34cr on October 15.

Jitendra Kumar Mishra district cane officer stated ‘’the administration is making all efforts for clearing the cane dues. The present blockage is the outcome of unprecedented dip in the demand for sugar during the lockdown period. The slump continued even after this period’’.
