Day three of the folk and rural art forms - Lokrang saw several colourful programmes organised by the culture department of Madhya Pradesh. Lokrang is reaching its pinnacle now and Bhopalis are attending this popular event in large numbers at Ravindra Bhavan.

The afternoon was dedicated to the Children’s film festival, which had kids and kids-at heart in equal attendance. “I watched-‘Pinti Ka Sabun’ and ‘Pappu Ki Pagdandi’ along with my grandfather and both of us enjoyed,” said 12-year-old film buff, Daksh Purohit. Laanguriya gayan, Bhojpuri gayan, and Malwi Gayan set the tone. But the real winners were the folk dances of different regions, which cast a magical spell on the audience. Dhandal dance was high on energy, with dancers using sticks as props to pep up their act. Lathmar and Phoolon Ki Holi of Brij took the excitement to another level.

The pace reached a crescendo with flower petals being showered on the dancers dressed as Radha, Krishna, Sakhas, and Gopikas. Gotipua dance of Orissa, Jonsari dance of Uttarakhand, and Dholikunita dance of Karnataka were also appreciated a lot along with Irani folk music and dance presented by visiting artists.
