Government of India has reintroduced Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) for the month of May-June’2021. This is a pro-poor Scheme to ameliorate the hardships faced by the poor due to economic disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Under the scheme, Foodgrains @ 5 kg per person is given free of cost to NFSA Beneficiaries. Anupam B. Vyas, General Manager (Region), Food Corporation of India, Madhya Pradesh has appraised that the total number of persons benefited by this scheme in Madhya Pradesh State is 4,70,46,320 (including 55,49,538 beneficiaries under AAY 4,14,96,782 under PHH) with a total allocation of 4,70,463 MT Wheat to be distributed in May-June 2021. This allocation will be in addition to the regular monthly NFSA allocation and migrant NFSA beneficiaries can use the facility of portability under ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ to avail the benefits under the said scheme. He also informed that Food Corporation of India and State machinery are fully prepared to ensure that all the beneficiaries get their quota of wheat within time. Till date, Govt of Madhya Pradesh has lifted around 20000 MT of stocks for free distribution to beneficiaries.
