HC issues notices to state on delay docs’ rural posting

Bhopal/Jabalpur: A division bench of MP high court issued notices to respondents in a petition filed by a group of doctors saying that either they should be posted in rural areas for one year of compulsory service or they should be exempted from the clause of compulsory rural service of one year as stipulated in the bond they filled at the time of admission in MBBS course.A group of seven doctors including Dr Siddartha Kansana, Dr Sonali Agrawal and five others in their petition before the court said that they had taken admission in MBBS course in 2017 and after completing MBBS in the year 2022, they completed their internship as well. According to the contract they entered into agreement with the state government, they are required to render one-year compulsory service in a rural area. Appearing on behalf of the petitioners, advocate Aditya Sanghi said that all the petitioners are from outside the state. Its more than 6 months that they have completed their internship, but they have not been given posting in rural areas as envisaged in the contract nor they are being given a no objection certificate (NOC). There are vacancies of doctors in their native states, but they are passing time idly for 6 months in the absence of posting in rural areas or a NOC from the state government.The principal secretary and director, medical education, and director, health services have been made party in the petition.Following initial hearing in the case, the division bench of chief justice R V Malimath and Justice Vishal Mishra issued notices to respondents seeking response to the petition. The case will now come up for hearing in the first week of October. Khans plea was previously rejected by the special court formed to hear cases under the Official Secrets Act. The petition argues that nearly 200 criminal cases have been registered against Khan, including charges of corruption, murder, sedition, and foreign funding. It also alleges that the Federal Investigation Agency operated under the influence of the former interior ministry.
