Damoh police solve Rs 41 lakh bank robbery case in a few hours

Madhya Pradesh police is continuously taking action against criminal elements to maintain law and order. In this series, Damoh Police have solves the robbery of more than Rs 41 lakh in Madhyanchal Gramin Bank of Fatehpur under Magaron police station within a few hours. Besides, three accused have been arrested and money has also been recovered from them. Damoh Police has seized the motorcycle, pistol, mobile phone used in the incident and the total amount looted from the bank of Rs 41,23,327 from the accused. A case under section 394 IPC was registered in Magaron police station. The accused were identified as Fatehpur resident Rohit Vishwakarma (25), Durgesh alias Kamlesh(25) and Devi alias Divwal (23). Actually, the banks branch manager Kapil Rakwar reached Fatehpur outpost on May 14, 2024 at 8 pm. He told the police that at around 7.45 pm when he along with his bank colleague Harinarayan Vishwakarma reached the bank after inspecting the rural area, the banks messenger Rohit Vishwakarma informed him about the robbery. Rohit told the manager that some miscreants had come with a cloth tied over their mouth and showed me a knife and assaulted me. They took out the key from the bag and looted the total amount of Rs 41,23,327 kept in the safe of the bank. On the complaint of the branch manager, senior police officers were informed. Under the guidance of Sagar Zone IG Shri Pramod Verma, Sagar Range DIG Sunil Jain and SP Shrutkirti Somvanshi, a team was immediately formed and investigation was started. Bank employees were interrogated by blocking the road in Damoh. During investigation, contradictions were found between the statements of messenger Rohit and the evidence obtained. After several hours of interrogation, Rohit admitted to carrying out the incident along with his friends Durgesh and Devi. Rohit told the police that he had a lot of debt, to repay which he planned a robbery with his friends. He was trying to withdraw as much money as possible. He also admitted that the injuries he sustained were self-inflicted.
