Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Wednesday visited the BEML workshop in Bengaluru where he flagged off the 2100th metro coach manufactured by BEML Limited, marking a significant milestone in Indias railway manufacturing sector. Dr. Yadav also dedicated this historic achievement to the nation, emphasizing that it symbolizes the countrys advanced manufacturing capabilities and engineering excellence. Dr. Yadav handed over the land allotment letter for setting up BEMLs new rolling stock manufacturing unit in the Umariya region of Raisen district to Shri Shantanu Roy, Chairman and Managing Director of BEML. The state government has allocated 60.063 hectares of land for the proposed unit, which will manufacture rolling stock and metro coaches for major railway and urban transport projects. This initiative is expected to strengthen railway infrastructure in Madhya Pradesh and across the nation, while providing employment opportunities and economic benefits to the region. In his address, Dr. Yadav hailed the establishment of BEMLs manufacturing unit in Raisen as a game-changer for both the state and national industrial ecosystems. He emphasized that this project would create job opportunities, promote entrepreneurship, and offer skills development for the local youth, especially those in technical education. He added that the unit would help uplift rural communities in Raisen district, strengthening local infrastructure and livelihoods. Dr. Yadav also noted that BEMLs expansion is aligned with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modis Aatmanirbhar Bharat, which focuses on self-reliance and indigenous technology. The Chief Minister praised the collaboration between Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka and said that this partnership would help promote mutual development and contribute to Indias railway modernization efforts. Shri Shantanu Roy, Chairman and Managing Director of BEML, expressed his gratitude to Dr. Yadav for his unwavering support and commitment to this project. Roy said that the 2100th metro coach produced by BEML will be deployed for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) through the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The coach features driverless operation capabilities, advanced smart safety systems, and is equipped with an Onboard Condition Monitoring System, a first for Indian metro trains. The Onboard Condition Monitoring System will enable real-time predictive maintenance and remote diagnostics, ensuring the efficiency and safety of the metro system. The new coach also boasts ergonomic interiors, dynamic route maps, CCTV, advanced air-conditioning, and a dedicated cycle stand, enhancing passenger comfort and safety. The Raisen plant, once operational, will focus initially on manufacturing stainless steel car body coaches, with plans to expand capabilities in the future. The plant will not only meet domestic demands but also cater to global markets. BEMLs investment in Madhya Pradesh further demonstrates the companys commitment to innovation, indigenisation, and quality in the rail manufacturing sector. The opening of the BEML unit and the flagging off of the 2100th metro coach marks a significant achievement for Indias urban rail infrastructure and signals an important step towards the countrys industrial advancement and job creation in the coming years.
