A 40-year-old woman, Amrita, an employee of HDFC Bank, died on Saturday morning after her scooter was fatally struck by a speeding Scorpio near the Ayodhya bypass. The incident occurred around 11 AM while she was on her way to work. Locals caught the driver of the white SUV, who is allegedly a minor, as he attempted to flee the scene. Eyewitnesses said the Scorpio was being driven recklessly and collided head-on with Amritas scooty. Despite being rushed to a private hospital by bystanders, Amrita succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Amrita was a mother to a four-year-old daughter and the primary breadwinner of her family. She had been managing household responsibilities alone after her husband Amit, a former senior employee at Mahindra, suffered an accident four months ago and remains bedridden on doctors orders. The couple, married for 12 years, lived in Amrit Enclave, where Amrita was actively involved in community initiatives such as plantation drives. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the hit-and-run. Authorities have yet to confirm the age or custody status of the Scorpio driver, stating that further details will be revealed after formal arrest procedures.
