Bomb scare halts Kamayani Express

  • | Monday | 19th May, 2025

A bomb threat that halted the Kamayani Express at Khandwa Junction on Saturday afternoon was flagged as a hoax following an hour-long search conducted by personnel assisted by sniffer dogs. Train 11072 Kamayani Express was stopped on arrival at 1 PM. All 22 coaches—including two generator cars—were searched by sniffer dogs and security teams. GRP Station In-charge MP Thakkar said the train was near Talwadia, 16 km from Khandwa, when the alert came in. Local police were also informed and mobilised. Personnel from the GRP and Railway Protection Force (RPF) screened luggage and questioned passengers. Nothing suspicious was found, and the train resumed its journey at 1:56 PM. Saturdays hoax follows a troubling rise in fake bomb threats across trains and public spaces, causing repeated panic and resource diversion. On February 18, May 3 and May 12, similar alerts targeted the Jhelum Express, Rani Kamlapati station, and Indores Holkar Stadium—all of them false. In recent months, threats via email have targeted hospitals, schools, banks, and airports. None have involved real explosives, but all prompted full-scale responses. Authorities urge the public to stay alert but not alarmed. Officials have warned that those spreading such false information will face strict legal consequences.
