Two persons nabbed in fake mobile snatching case

  • | Monday | 19th May, 2025

Shahjehanabad police arrested two individuals, including a minor, following a complaint of mobile snatching near Kamala Devi Hospital. However, during interrogation, the robbery claim was found to be false and rooted in a financial dispute. The incident dates back to Friday evening when Hemant Vichhele (28), a medical store employee from Sanjay Nagar, alleged that Pawan Satnami and a minor snatched his mobile phone worth Rs 25,000 and Rs 250 in cash while he was walking home from work. He claimed the accused intimidated him before fleeing the scene. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and detained the suspects late Friday night. During questioning, both accused denied involvement in any robbery, stating that Hemant had fabricated the story due to an ongoing monetary dispute with them. The police are currently verifying statements from both parties. The minor has been released on notice, while Pawan Satnami remains in custody as investigations continue. Authorities are examining whether the complaint was falsely lodged and stressed the importance of thorough verification in such cases, as initial accusations may sometimes stem from personal conflicts. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be revealed as the probe progresses, police said. This achievement reflects our ongoing commitment to providing world-class, cost-free treatment for even the most complex cases, said Dr Manisha Srivastava, Director-in-Charge, BMHRC.
