A 35-year-old On Board Housekeeping Staff (OBHS) employee, Sugandhi Lal, sustained critical injuries while attempting to board a moving train at Bhopal Railway Station on platform number 1. The accident occurred at 7:05 PM as the Chandigarh-Yeshwantpur Sampark Kranti Express (Train No. 22686) was arriving. Officials reported that Lal lost his balance while trying to board an air-conditioned coach for cleaning duties and fell into the gap between the coach and the platform. He suffered serious injuries to his head, waist, and legs and lost consciousness at the scene. Chief Ticket Inspector (CTI) Raghavdas quickly noticed the incident and immediately alerted Deputy Station Manager (Commercial) Anand Krishna Mishra. Emergency medical assistance was promptly provided by Dr. Noor Hasan from the stations medical room, and an ambulance was dispatched to transport Lal to the railway hospital. With the help of fellow cleaning staff, Lal was safely extricated from the narrow gap. The train was halted following communication with the operations department and control room to avoid further mishaps. Dr. Hasan administered first aid at the scene, and Lal was shifted to the railway hospital within 10 minutes of the accident. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Bhopal Division, Saurabh Kataria, praised the swift response and coordination among railway staff. The railway employees demonstrated exceptional alertness, sensitivity, and prompt action in a critical moment. Their teamwork and humane approach in handling the emergency is highly commendable, he said.
