Civic workers, students clean Kaliyasot

  • | Tuesday | 10th June, 2025

A joint cleanliness drive under the Jal-Ganga campaign cleared one truckload of waste from the Kaliyasot River near Amarnath Colony in Bhopal on Sunday. The drive, carried out by Bhopal Municipal Corporation health staff and local students, focused on the riverbanks and the bridge area under Zone 18, Ward 80. Around a dozen sanitation workers joined students in removing waste, which was then taken to an authorised disposal site. The activity was led by Assistant Health Officer Madhusudan Tiwari. The Jal-Ganga Conservation Campaign is a state-level initiative aimed at reviving and maintaining the health of natural water bodies through regular cleaning, community participation, and awareness drives. Under the programme, civic bodies across Madhya Pradesh have been directed to identify polluted stretches of rivers and ponds and carry out periodic clean-up operations, with public engagement seen as key to long-term success. The campaign helps prevent water pollution, improves the local ecosystem, and raises public awareness about environmental responsibility, ultimately ensuring cleaner water sources and healthier surroundings for communities.
